Does CSS go with the theme?
-
My theme is Twenty Twelve with CSS
To prevent shooting myself in the foot, I need a teeny bit of education! (Sorry for this basic question, but I haven’t been able to really get solidly convinced on this from the documentation that I could find.)1. If, as an experiment, I change themes (actually activate another one – not preview), what happens to my CSS? Does the CSS that I have for my current theme go to the new theme?
2. Having paid for CSS Customization, will I still have use of it in the new theme?
3. If the experiment proves an utter disaster (i.e I hate it), can I return to my original theme as if nothing happened. Will it be EXACTLY the same. Specifically, will my old CSS come back as it was before I started mucking around? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you change themes, the CSS for the previous theme is deactivated, but saved in the CSS revisions section at Appearance > Customize > CSS (link in the upper right). The reason it is deactivated is that CSS is generally theme specific and in some cases CSS from another theme can totally mess up the new theme.
2. Having paid for CSS Customization, will I still have use of it in the new theme?
The Custom Design upgrade is per blog, not per theme, so you can use it with any theme as long as you pay the yearly fee.

Yes, simply reactivate the previous theme and then you can reapply your custom CSS from the CSS revisions I mentioned above.
