Does Domain Mapping affect Blog Visibility?

  I’m considering domain mapping for my wordpress blog. I understand the security issues having to do with “whois” lookups and how to register your domain privately.

  Does domain mapping affect your wordpress privacy options? For example, I have my “Blog Visibility” set at “I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors.” Will search engines still be blocked using my new (mapped) domain name?

  Yes. It benefits you. Greatly. If you let search engines visit. Otherwise no. No difference.

  Thanks for your response. To clarify, are you saying that the wordpress privacy settings will continue to control visibility of the site, regardless of the domain mapping?

  mkaiserlian – that’s my understanding. I have the domain mapping upgrade and nothing has changed in my dashboard in terms of privacy options (or anything else).
