Does free version of WordPress allow image at top of blog?
-
the image of the tree with mushrooms growing out of it is an example of where I’d like to put an image on my blog.
here’s the example: http://lexicalpixies.wordpress.com/2011/04/21/daily-madness-46-tower-of-abyss-wallpaper-design/
Does the free version of wordpress support this?
If so, where withing the Dashboard is this the configuration area for this process located?
Thanks!

That’s just a custom header. Most of the themes here support that. You can search through the theme browser and filter for Custom Header to find themes that offer it. Then you just add it from Appearance->Custom Header.

The theme you are using is Paperpunch and it does not have a custom header feature. The only way you could add one to that theme would be to purchase an annually renewable CSS editing upgrade and do the CSS editing work yourself. If you are considering switching themes, I find this list of themes that allow for custom headers and the correct sizes for them to be helpful so maybe you will too. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/24/header-images/

Thanks. I finally figured that out. Custom header themes, though, are so gee-gawy in general. I just want something plain and easy to read, *but* with a pretty picture on the top. Seems there’s no middle ground between doo-daddy and ascetic. I’ll keep searching on the themes page and filtering by custom header, though. Just wasted a ton o’ time already doing that and went back to Paper Punch. Oy!

Yeah, that one’s totally got the zen-like emptiness thing going on, which is great except it doesn’t have blogroll on the side. I may try it and see if I can shrink the font size for the blog entry titles and use a widget or page to add a blog roll and links area. I’d like the links and blog roll to be always and permanently visible.
