does guided transfer include transferring a free theme from wordpress.com
-
If I was to export my wordpress.com site, would you transfer the blog I created online, to the local wordpress on my laptop, in which I would be able to edit the source code? and i am currently using splendio theme, which is free on wordpress.com, would this be transferred accross too?
Blog url: http://h4pz03.wordpress.com/The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
No, it does not. You can often find .org versions of themes available, though. You just have to install them yourself.

thanks for the quick response. on my current wordpress.com blog, i have a request a quote page, which contains a form, and i have images, search function etc, would all this functionality be transferred accross with the guided transfer?
i have pictures at the bottom of my page, which are links to pages, would this content be transferred accross to be displayed and working exactly how it is? also once transferred to local host, would i be able to edit the code so that i can get rid of the leave a comment function? -
Functionality is not transferred. Content is transferred, so images, text, etc.
Once transferred to your independent host, you can edit pretty much anything, including removing the comment function (although you can do that here merely by switching it off under Settings->Discussion).

If you install the JetPack Plug-in you will find some functions from WordPress.COM will be available in your WordPress.ORG install –

sorry for being a pain, im new to this.
i have unchecked all the relevant leave a comment boxes under the settings-discussion section, but it still says leave a comment and leave a reply at the bottom of my pages?
also, if i was to transfer this page to another domain name, would functionality such as the form in the request a quote page still work? all i want is, for it to be a working site, which noone can comment on, and can just view and use it how it is working right now, could you please advise what would be suitable?
Thanks, appreciate the help.

i have disabled the comment and leave a reply.
so would just like to know, if i was to transfer this page to another domain name, would functionality such as the form in the request a quote page still work? all i want is, for it to be a working site.
also you say images and content are transferred accross, when they are, are they still kept in the same places on the page?
-
I would really appreciate someones help on this.
if i was to transfer my site as it is, to another domain, would functionality such as the form on the request a form page still work? and once transferred to another domain, would i be able to edit it when i please?
please can someone help me on this. Thanks

I bought the guided transfer and they have done it but i’m so confused. How do I access the dashboard for wordpress.org?
Am I supposed to download something too?
I called Blue Host and they said I need to access through the wordpress.com dashboard (isn’t that what I was migrating FROM) and now there are two blogs with the same name.
Please help me so I can figure out how to upload my purchased theme (from studiopress) and genesis but there’s no option to install.
-
WordPress.org is a support site that isn’t associated with your web host. You need to create a new user account there.
WordPress.com provides the paid transfer to move off WordPress.com to your new site which is hosted elsewhere. Have you bought hosting?
-
Hi RainCoaster Thank you.
I’m on bluehost.com and can get into that dashboard and paid wordpress.com to do the transfer. They say they have.
Do I still login to wordpress.com dashboard??
There is no option for the “install themes” when i go to “appearance”
I don’t know how to install GENESIS and the LUSCIOUS theme.
Can you help by any chance?
K

A free theme is included, however,I want to install the theme I purchased from studio press called LUSCIOUS and the GENESIS framework it requires for use. Using wordpress.com looks exactly the same I only transferred to wordpress.com so i could put my own adverts on the site
1. Do I continue to access from wordpress.com
2. How do I install a theme if there is no INSTALL option -
There is no Install option on your WordPress.COM blog. It exists on your WordPress.ORG blog.
-
You need to install any themes from your WordPress.ORG install on Blue Host – the Dashboard will look almost the same that is both good and bad – good – shorter learning curve – bad some confusion as to where you should be working –
