Does Importing Content Overwrite Current Content?

    I’m thinking of importing an export file from an old site onto my current WordPress blog which has posts on it. Will these posts be overwritten? If so, could anyone suggest a way that this might be possible?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    The importer won’t overwrite any posts on your site. If an import file contains a post that already exists on your site, the importer will just skip that post instead.

    Okay, so it doesn’t replace the current posts with the ones in the export file?

    Also, will the site name being different be an issue? Chiefly for all the links to content in the old file, I was thinking of doing a search/replace on the old export file of “oldsite.wordpress.com” to “newsite.wordpress.com” to try to make the posts as little broken as possible. Is there anything else I can do to be able to add this content with as few issues as possible?

    No. The existing posts will not be replaced. The export file will be in addition to what is already on the site.

    No this will not be an issue.

    The importer works quite well and you should not have any issues.
