Does it cost anything to “register a blog” ??

  I registered a blog, then happened to see mapping…Now I have no idea if the blog would have been considered a domain?
  Need all your help please….very new at this…appreciate it

  But I already deleted it, b/c I was unsure if it was considered a domain that was free or if I’d have to pay for it….

  Honestly just wish I could start this process over as I’d prefer another member name.

  So new at this and have no idea where to begin…LoL

  I went to set myself up….Placed incorrect name and appearance which I am thinking I can not change.
  Do you know if I am wrong or right?

  Is a registered blog the same as a domain?

  Can I cancel account and start from scratch?

  When you register for a blog here it is free. You can use it as long as you wish and use it for any purpose as long as you do not violate the terms of service.

  If you want a different display name (the one that shows when you post, you can change that under user > your profile in the dashboard. Your original username you signed up with will always show up here in the forums, but on your blog, and in comments you make on other wordpress.com blogs, your “nickname” would show.

  If you want a different username, log out of wordpress, go to http://worpress.com/ and get a new blog with the username you want. Since wordpress requires unique email addresses for each account, you will need a different email address for the second account. Since you just deleted lifeisbackwards, that name is gone forever now, but you can register a blog with a different username/URL.

  Once an account is created, it cannot be deleted, but that is alright. You can just abandon it.

  Hero !!!! I was considering giving up….But now, I believe I will try, try again…
  I really really like your site/blog.
  How do I know the difference, if registering for a blog or a domain??
  And can I send you my email on your site if I have any questions in the future?
  Really appreciate your help.

  Thanks, and you are welcome.

  Here at wordpress.com you are actually registering for a blog. The blog becomes a subdomain here at wordpress.com such as http://myblog.wordpress.com. The myblog is a subdomain of wordpress.com. That is how it can be free.

  If at a later date, you decide on a domain name you like, such as mynewdomain.com, it can be registered (with a fee) and then domain mapped to your blog here so that your blog at myblog.wordpress.com would show up in people’s browsers as mynewdomain.com. That is an option and is not something required or anything that anyone has to do.
