Does it matter if I don’t have www in my domain name

  Hi, I just bought credit and added my domain name to my blog, but I forgot to include the www in the domain name. Does that matter? And how do I fix it? I’ve only just switched the DNS servers too so I know it may not show up for 48 hrs or so but am just wondering if someone types in http://www.mydomain.com will it still work OK? thanks
