Does my blog title have to be displayed?
-
I’m a new WordPress user whose news/social commentary blog uses Chris Pearson’s Press Row template. I’d like to know if my blog can have a title that’s not automatically displayed.
Press Row lets you use a custom image header, and mine is a logo banner of the site’s name, IndieRegister.com. A title above that header — as Press Row normally would publish — would be redundant in my case. By leaving the title field blank on WordPress settings, I was able to make the title line disappear on the blog.
Because I’d like the blog to show up in search engine results, it needs a title. Is there any way to enter a title in WordPress settings without it appearing on my blog?
Thanks in advance for all your help!

A lot of themes have the option to hide the title of the blog if there is a custom header. Have you checked that?

I didn’t see that anywhere, but I’ll look. The title’s displayed automatically when I enter it into WordPress settings, and the only way I could find to hide it was to leave the title field blank.

In my opinion, not a good idea unless your theme supports it.

Pressrow doesn’t have the option to hide the title – at least it doesn’t appear so. Gotta agree with jennifer on this – taking the title out is not a good idea.

Does anyone know how to change the blog title? WHen I registered for the blog it said the title could be changed at any time, now I don’t see how.

In your dashboard, go to setting > general and you can change the title and also the tagline. Make sure and click “save changes” afterward.
