Does my spam blocker not work?

  Hello,

  I have been getting spammed like CRAZY. I have tried everything, they are not being stopped. Every morning I have to delete like 20 spam comments. This has been going on for 2 months. Is my spam filter not working some of them are from the same user and I have flagged them as spam…several times.

  You are not alone. The spam comments were never bothersome until they started filtering out as comment notifications. It is a pain to go through these notification emails, delete them, mark the spam at the blog, on daily basis.

  Same here – had to delete 18 spams that slipped through the filter. What’s up with that?

  I can’t figure out who to contact at WordPress to rectify this.

  Recently I’ve had obvious porn spam slip through the filter and had to delete some pretty unpleasant comments and links from my blog. I contacted Askimet (support [at] askimet.com) but to be honest wasn’t very impressed with the response:

  “Thank you for letting us know and reporting all such comments as spam. Akismet has processed the data and should be able to better combat this particular type of spam moving forward. We will also look further into any possible changes we can make on our end.”

  The reply suggested these were sophisticated new forms of spam that Askimet couldn’t be expected to spot, when in fact they were full of words like f**k, lolita, c*ck and other give-away signs…
