Does my wordpress name and domain name need to be the same?

  The blog URL I want is not available on wordpress but I could purchase it as a private domain name. Can I build a site using a diferent name Blog URL and then easily, inexpensively transfer to a private domain name without any hassle? Thanks for any help.

  Your WordPress.com site name and your custom domain name do NOT need to match or be related.
