does premium plan allow 301 redirects?
-
I’d like to move to a 3rd party hosted site to take advantage of various plugins and other features. Will the premium plan allow me to slowly move, 1 post at a time so I can reformat as I go – with the ability for me to put in a 301 redirect for each page when it moves? I’d rather not do one massive move.

I should have mentioned that we can redirect everything at once with the Site Redirect upgrade.
But that is not really what you are looking for. Still, it might be useful to know about in any case.

Hi staff-ozmodiar – just a quick question about the redirect upgrade.
It’s noted in the Support doc that currently the redirect only works to a non-SSL address. Can we expect that to change given that encryption is the future of the web? Thanks.

Hi staff-ozmodiar – I guess I do need to look into that. One more question please – I use a different permalink structure on the other site, which I think would (1) allow me to bulk import everything from the .com site to it, (2) do the site redirect as you said, and (3) reformat and move the posts to the new theme / format. The question is – how many 301 redirects can I use before Google, Etc. gets unhappy and stops crawling?
Can I have a redirect from you, then another on my site after I move the post / page?
thanks! -
That is not something I would advise. But to be honest, I do not know the exact answer.
And just to be clear, for Site Redirect to work, you need to use the same permalink structure. Otherwise you are losing a lot of the advantages of having Site Redirect at all.
