Does publishing privately notify subscibers?

    I’m using Jetpack to collect subscribers and email them when posts are created.

    There doesn’t seem to be an option to disable email notifications prior to publishing – so what I’m thinking is we’ll publish privately for those posts that we do NOT want subscibers to receive an email for, and then switch them to public post-publish. Would this work?
