Does the basic $4 a month plan work for a small podcast?

I own a domain and have an old audio drama podcast on it (not too many episodes, not too many listeners) and need to change hosts. Can I transfer all that here seamlessly on the basic plan? It’s already set up in a WordPress format, and my free site here already points to there. All I really need to do is be able to upload the audio files here and change a few links.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi there,

It sounds like you are referring to the Personal plan, and yes you are correct that this plan will allow you to upload audio files as well as provide more storage space in your media library since those are larger than your average image file.

If your current site is on WordPress.com you can use these steps to move the contents over to your site here. We recommend doing this first (before you move your domain name) which will give you time to get everything all set up and looking good on your private domain here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-a-sites-content/

Once you have everything looking good here, you can move your domain connection over as the final step, and that will replace the existing site with your new WordPress.com site seamlessly.

Note that if you choose the yearly billing option (instead of the monthly billing option) it will include a free domain transfer, as well once the transfer is complete we will add a free year of domain registration for a little extra savings.

Also, since you mentioned you are podcasting, you may be interested in our free Podcasting course here, which is great for beginners but also a lot of good info for existing podcasters looking to level up: https://wordpress.com/learn/courses/intro-to-podcasting/

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
