Does the Cutline theme have a tagline?
-
I made my second blog and typed in that little tagline that goes uner the Title of the blog…… but although I see it there in the draft form, it disappears after being published.
Do you have Cutline and does yours have a tagline?

Cutline doesn’t display the tagline. If you need it, you can go to Design>Widgets, add a Text widget, write the tagline in it, drag the widget to top posision, click save changes.

I use Cutline, and it doen’t display the tagline. If it were really important, you could make a graphic of the tagline and use that as your header pic.
-
I liked my suggestion so much that I created a graphic of my tagline, using MS Paint. It’s now up at my blog, instead of the picture I used to have as a header. I may not keep it, but it’s there now if anyone wants to see how a graphic tagline looks. It took a bit of tweaking to get the text and colors looking right, making the border, etc. But it wasn’t all that difficult.
-
I’ll update this in case anyone searches on Cutline, or tagline. The all-text graphic I created was a bit ugly, so I used MS-Paint to add the tagline to a narrow strip inserted into the bottom of my usual header graphic. That’s what’s up at my blog now. Opinions will vary, but this hybrid header works rather well for me.

There is another way to add a tagline and place it at the top of the blog. See this thread for details https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/workaround-for-putting-tagline-in-fresh-bananas?replies=45 And it does not require the CSS upgrade.

Oh very nice indeed sensuouscurmudgeon.
And vivian, thanks, just bookmarked that thread. Another Golden Oldie.
-
Yeah, there are some good old threads out there. I put them in my favorites so that I can find them when I need them.
-
@sensuouscurmudgeon: Good idea. (Loved your posts, too!)
@vivianpaige: I suppose you mean the “position absolute” code. Great trick (new to me), but tailored to the Fresh Bananas theme – doesn’t work in Cutline.
-
Actually, the discussion is related to Fresh Bananas but it works in other themes as well. I used it myself prior to getting CSS. (There is another thread on how to add it in CSS.) If it doesn’t work in Cutline, then that may be. But it does work on other themes.
-
In fact, the same code is in this thread for Thirteen https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/no-tagline-for-thirteen-theme?replies=11#post-108408

I’m glad someone — I mean panaghiotisadam — confirmed that the trick suggested by vivianpaige doesn’t work in Cutline. I had tried it, without success, and figured it was just me.
-
@vivianpaige: I didn’t doubt it works in other themes, too; just pointed this out since the OP’s question was about Cutline.
@sensuouscurmudgeon: In general, this means text in a text widget that actually shows up OUTSIDE the sidebar; possible in some themes, not possible in others.
(And I’m afraid only 1tess will get your joke on “someone”!)
