Does the Free Plan still exist?
-
I am trying to launch a new site on wordpress.com and can’t find the option for the free plan, like I have for my two other sites. Does anyone know if the free plan still exists and, if so, how to access it? The cheapest option I’m seeing for a new site is the “personal plan” at $36/year. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes free sites are available as long as you are happy with a subdomain address ending in .wordpress.com. Custom domains require a paid plan.

Just adding another thing here should anyone else look in on this forum thread: If you are trying to launch a free WordPress.com website and only see paid options on the Launch page, on that same page you might need to scroll down a bit before you see and can choose your current free WordPress.com website address.
As @themagicrobot said, setting a custom domain as your primary address requires a paid upgrade. You can either transfer the domain itself to WordPress.com to make all your payments in one place, or connect it from your current registrar. Both are included (transfer and connection) in the upgrade plan.

Hi there!
The Free plan is still available. Unless you purchase a paid plan, your site will be on the Free plan by default.
All the sites on your WordPress.com are on the Free plan. You can check here: https://wordpress.com/sites
Like others mentioned above, if you wish to load the site on a custom domain name instead of the free wordpress.com address, you will need a paid plan.
You can refer to this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/ to learn in detail about the features offered in different plans.
Let us know if you have any questions.
