Does the ‘Premium Plan’ allow me to ‘CSS away’ this feature of the TwentyTen theme and …

  • Unknown's avatar

I am considering upgrading to ‘Premium’ tonight (special offer!) but only if the CSS ability included would with it would (1) allow me to ‘delete’ the ‘this gallery contains X photos’ feature that appears automatically on my blog page on the top of each posts short description
    Here is the link: https://masstoclass.wordpress.com/ueber-blog-cast/
Rather I would like a line or two more of the text, or a blank space.
Also, I want to use my own domain name that I have with Godaddy for the blog. Can you confirm that (2) the Premium feature will not only allow me to use my domain name instead of the xxx.wordpress.com name (above) BUT also manage the auto-redirect of links that use the old addresses to the newly renamed blog – and for free?
I am not clear if old likns that exist on the internet will be auto directed to point to the equivalent posts with the new domain posts. For how long? and does Worpress maintain that service for free (or what are the extra fees).
Many thanks for your expert advice/sharing your own experience!!

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Yes, you can remove this gallery contains X photos from the top of the posts using CSS.

Can you confirm that (2) the Premium feature will not only allow me to use my domain name instead of the xxx.wordpress.com name (above) BUT also manage the auto-redirect of links that use the old addresses to the newly renamed blog – and for free?

As you already know, adding a domain to your site requires a WordPress.com plan. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain or transfer/map one you already own.

You’ll need to set your custom domain as Primary Domain and all your other domains will redirect to the primary one. So the old links will redirect to your primary domain.

Visitors can get to your blog using any of the domains you added, but the address they see in their browser’s address bar will always be the primary domain.

    Domains

For how long? and does Worpress maintain that service for free (or what are the extra fees).

As long as you have the paid plan active on your site, your free website masstoclass.wordpress.com will redirect to the custom domain (which you set as primary).

Should you not renew your plan, all content on your site will still be accessible at the free WordPress.com address that is assigned to you when you create your site, nothing gets deleted, and you still have full access to manage content on your site. Only the additional features included in your plan will be removed.

Please note that the twentyten theme you are using is retired. You can continue using this theme but the retired themes are not compatible to work with the new features being rolled out.
