Does the Site Redirect Upgrade include 301 redirects (or the like)?
-
I am planning to move my blog to another wordpress.com domain using a Site Redirect in the near future. I’ve seen advice that in order to maintain search engine rankings when a domain name changes one ought to notify Google and set up various redirects designed to duplicate the old search engine information. How much of this is handled by the Site Redirect upgrade, and how much do I need to do myself?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As far as I can tell, the Site Redirect does do 301 redirects. See here: http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/redirect/

Thanks! I had seen the main page on Site Redirect, but I hadn’t seen that one. I noticed that link says “Redirect posts and other internal links (may require setup on new site)” – where can I find information about whether or not that will be necessary?

Hmm, the support page doesn’t mention that http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
I’ll notify the Staff and see if they can explain :)

The Site Redirect upgrade uses 301 redirects (“RedirectPermanent”) to smartly redirect users, Googlebot, and other spiders. This way it won’t hurt your site ranking.
