Does WordPress display ads on privately hosted domains?

I’ve read about the “No Ads” WordPress upgrade. Does this apply to WordPress installed on my own hosting server or only to free WordPress accounts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

http://celerybog.wordpress.com/ is a WordPress.com blog and unless it has the No Ads upgrade it will host ads posted by WP.com, whether or not you have a custom domain.

Other hosts may or may not put ads on your site or may ban advertising: it’s somewhere in your terms of service.

    Please disregard the celerybog.wordpress.com domain.

My question is about a privately hosted domain and installation of WordPress I maintain. My real question: Will WordPress inject ads into my private installation?

My question is about a privately hosted domain and installation of WordPress

Then you need to ask over at WordPress.ORG – some themes have ads on them as do some other hosts – depends

Thanks. I found this to be helpful:

I think you’re getting confused between WordPress.com and WordPress.org and the article is annoyingly unclear.

WordPress.com is indeed a hosted service that lets you create a WordPress blog on their servers. You don’t have access to much beyond being able to write posts. I think you can now pay a monthly fee to be able to access the templates (so that you can change colour schemes, layout and so on) but I don’t know that you can display your own advertising.

WordPress.org however (where you are now!) provides the free WordPress software that you can download and install on your own webspace and domain (for example, a domain name and webspace bought from GoDaddy).

You will certainly be able to run advertising on your own hosted WordPress installation, there are many thousands of examples of people doing just that.

    Hope that makes sense!

In summary: NO, a custom install or WordPress on my privately hosted domain gives me complete control over all aspects of WordPress – including ads… or lack of ads.

    No, it doesn’t.

As I said in my post, that depends on your host and your terms of service.
