Does WordPress email me?

  I’ve had an email today in the name of Matt Mullenweg, (email visible only to moderators and staff), telling me about the release of WordPress 4.2. I don’t recall having an email from WP in such a long time that I can’t be certain it’s genuine.
  Can anyone confirm it’s not a scam … or that it is?

  I got one two days ago because “at some point [I] signed up for the WordPress.org announcement list.”

  Story checks out. I’d nod approvingly, and then keep or delete the email.
