Does WordPress fit my needs

    Hello,
I was using Squarespace for a while to develop my website, and it turns out that using Squarespace really isn’t practical for what I need out of my website. I had to jump through major hoops for the following features:
    1. Membership and Log in – Allow users to log in to see very basic profile
    2. ACH – Allow users to set up ACH (preferably through Stripe) for transactions
    3. File upload – We need users to be able to upload files (images and/or videos
For each of these 3 items on squarespace, we either would have needed to pay for some third-party option and/or jump through major hoops to get them implemented. Are these features that are easy to implement in WordPress? I really want to know that this will be relatively easy to do before I spend time trying to do my website in WordPress instead of Squarespace.
    Thanks,
    Elliot

Hi there! It seems that a self-hosted site on WordPress.org might be a better fit for your needs. While WordPress.com does provide plug-ins for e-commerce, it does not support Stripe (which has a plug-in for WordPress.org). To see the e-commerce options for WordPress.com, look here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/

Here is a brief outline of the difference between the .com and .org sites: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org also has plug-ins for membership log in and the other features you are looking for.

I hope this helps. Have a great day!

We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
    Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
