Does WordPress have any test IPv6 addresses or URL patterns?

I’m curious if WordPress is working behind the scenes on IPv6 functionality. Lots of web sites are. Our site at work has IPv6 so we are ready when the company finally launches.

WordPress itself does not have IPv6 addresses associated with blog hostnames or URLs, yet. And that means even for mapped domains, IPv6 won’t work (so you can’t just put them in your DNS servers if you control them).

My curiosity is if WP is working on this now, or postponing it for later (UX is the obvious priority goal). If later, I can understand (it’s easier to let others see what kinds of fallout there will be, such as the latency that would exist from networks with incomplete or incorrect IPv6 deployment when the browser tries to go IPv6 before trying IPv4). But maybe they are. It might be secret (that’s fine). Or they might be ready to go public with alpha testing on a limited scale.

We Volunteers don’t have an answer for you. It’s my opinion, based on obeservation and experience, that if one expects a definitive answer any time soon to such questions then the best way to get it is to communicate directly with Staff.

Thanks. I figured I’d check here first to see what the community has heard (since I’m still a newbie here). Lacking that, sure, asking staff would be next. I’m not in a hurry. though.
