Does WordPress Use Pop-Up Ads in Blogs?

  Hey —

  I was just wondering whether people who visit a wordpress blog receive a pop-up advertisement when they visit. I have a pop-up blocker installed and it seemed to be working overtime when i visited the blog today for some reason.

  As far as I know, wordpress.com is not using any form of popups on the system.

  They have been testing adsense, but that’s only contextual advertising within the blog itself and certainly wouldn’t produce any popups.

  Can I suggest you run an anti-spyware application on your system, you may have picked up something dodgy. I had one when I was running IE that every time I clicked a link, no matter where from or to I would get a new popup. Cleared it using spybot and ad-aware in the end.

  We do not use and would never use popups.
  Cornell’s advice is good.
