does wordpress.com premium upgrade offer own host and domain?
-
the title says it all really… I want to get my own hosted space. Do I need to get a host/domain elsewhere then download wordpress.org’s wordpress client.. OR if I want to keep my content intact can I just upgrade to premium with my existing site and effectively achieve the same thing?
What are the pros and cons of each option?
Thanks,
Craig

Your site is already freely hosted at salientwhy.wordpress.com.
If you’d like to use a custom domain with your site, you can add one here:
https://salientwhy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
If you’ve already registered a domain elsewhere, use these instructions, instead:

Hi there,
I set up a new domain and have successfully exported my content from my wordpress.com website to it. However, I also did not want to lose the traffic I have built up (about 15 views/day)! So I set up a redirect to the new domain Analyze6.comsite for the £9 fee.
However, after setting this up it looks like my traffic has stopped dead today (0 views)!! I hope I have not lost the traffic. I went into support and attempted to temporarily disable the redirect–but am afraid I may have somehow caused some irreparable damage. It appears as though when setting up the redirect my URL for the original WP.com account changes to the one I am trying to redirect to.
Can you advise–how do I do this without hurting traffic. I don’t want to mess this up because my site has been gaining traffic slowly but had really built up in the last year or so.
Thanks,
Craig

I can see your redirect, but you still need to reactivate it to make it salientwhy.wordpress.com’s Primary Domain:
https://salientwhy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Afterwards, salientwhy.wordpress.com will direct visitors to analyze6.com/site/, which, as far as I understand, is what you’re trying to accomplish.
Also, please clear your browser’s cache after you make the change:

Hi, thanks for you help. I think it is working now… will give it a couple of days to see if the traffic is coming through. Just a lot of new things to try and pick up with all this!
