Does WordPress.com support .it domain names?

  I have recently purchased a .it domain name (specifically “t49.it”) and would like to use it with WordPress.com through the custom domains add-on feature.

  But given that it is a country code top-level domain, I’m not sure whether WordPress.com can handle it, so i don’t want to spend the money on the domain setup if it can’t be done anyway (and then go through the hassle of getting a refund).

  Can you tell me whether I can host a .it domain name on the WordPress.com service at all? And if so, I can set up the domain FIRST, and then point my domain registration to the WordPress name servers?
