Does WordPress.com support SWF files?
-
Using WordPress.com templates, is it possible to upload self contained SWF files that will play when the page loads? In other words if I created an animated 300×250 pixel SWF animation, will it work or does this require WordPress.org instead? Thanks in advance…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Your answer is “no” and you can confirm this here:

Support documentation results for “Flash” http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ -
Is WordPress in bed with Apple or something? -Is that why Flash seems to be blockaded? If I find a similar site that supports SWF then I’m jumping ship.

WordrPress.com is a multiuser blogging platform and some codes are restricted. The software is programmed to strip them out in order to preserve security. If you aren’t happy with this you can hire a web host and download your own free standing install from wordpress.ORG

So just to be clear & to save me some time.. are you’re saying it is possible to embed Flash into posts using the .ORG version? Maybe I’ll have to try that route… I didn’t even realize there was this version until I read the com-vs-org post earlier today. -Thanks!

Google search string “embed Flash in posts site:wordpress.org/support/”
Search results > http://wordpress.org/support/topic/337372This has been a how to fish illustration. Please take up fishing. ;)

You can embed flash here but only through the vodpod button for wordpress.

I’ll note here that people in general do not like auto-start audio and video very much. Whenever I run onto a site with it, I immediately look for the stop button. If there isn’t an easily found stop button, I will typically just hit the browser back button and go elsewhere.
Just sayin’…

Count me in as number 3. I hate autoplay video and autoplay music on blogs. They annoy me so much that I click out never to click in again.
