Does WordPress.com work on iMac computer, apparently not

    Cannot get started setting up a blog on iMac, OS 10 El Capitain. Keeps changing the name of my blog itself and need to reset password. I’m trying to create a static home page but I don’t even have the option to select ‘posts’ on the post page dropdown or to click a ‘save & publish’ — don’t see that command anywhere. Is this WordPress out of the question? What’s the deal?
