I know this is not from WordPress itself, and I have no intention of replying to the message. But I’m reporting it to you because the message could be read as coming from WordPress itself, and could dupe people into shelling out $49 for things they probably could do themselves or with the help of the WP staff.
    Thanks!

    Hi Fiona,

There’s a large community of folks that make a living helping out users of the free WordPress software at WordPress.org. We even help support that community here:

    http://codepoet.com/ourstory/

Probably not a good business plan for this person to send messages to WordPress.com users since we provide support — but it doesn’t appear they mean any harm.

Feel free to mark this feedback as Spam, or just delete it. Whichever you prefer. :)

Thanks for your response – however, I cannot mark this message as “spam” because it came through the Contact form, not as a comment. And I can’t agree that the sender “means no harm” if they are charging for a service that WP could likely provide for free. There are likely many new or inexperienced WP users who would not know the difference.

You can mark contact form feedback as spam in your /wp-admin/ options here:

    https://allaboutworkdotorg.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=feedback

Hover your mouse over the message and you’ll “spam” and “trash” options.
