Doing Redirects and cannot access Login page

While doing a site redirect it was giving issues doing the homepage. I changed the main URL and lost the ability to log in to my site to fix it. Is there another way to get to a login screen to get in?

    Hi there!

Can you let us know the URL of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

Please note that we can only assist with websites hosted at WordPress.com. If you’re using the WordPress software but hosted elsewhere, you will need to reach out to your hosting provider or the WordPress.org community for guidance:

    Thank you!

the site in question is http://www.areabfe.com

The issue is the DNS for hosting got reverted to an old site and we area working to get that updated, however in the mean time we needed to point it to the version of the new site. In trying to create the redirect to the new url it was not accepting it. In general settings I changed the main url from https to http and now the site will not allow me to get to the custom login screen

    that should be https://www.areabfe.com/areabfe-login

  • Hi there,

I’m afraid we’re not able to help because your domain (areabfe.com) is registered with GoDaddy and not WordPress.com directly.

You can reach GoDaddy for assistance with your domain DNS here.

In general settings I changed the main url from https to http and now the site will not allow me to get to the custom login screen

GoDaddy is an independet provider of WordPress sites, and they use a different version of the software from what we have here. Specificaly we do not use the same system for setting your site address (to prevent the lockout you are describing) so our troubleshooting steps will not help since your site uses a different system from ours.

In addition to asking GoDaddy for assistance, you may wish to reach out to the forums here, which are for the version of WordPress that your provider is using: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
