  I have registered a domain on a different site, and now i want to link my wordpress site to this domain. I found the ‘map site’ option, but it is only possible to pay with a creditcard. Since I don’t have one, i made a paypal account and added money from my bank account to my paypal account. This still doesn’t work, and the site still asks for a creditcard number. Is it possible to pay for the domain without a creditcard? I really don’t want to get a creditcard just for this one payment.

  Hi there. You should be able to pay with PayPal directly.

  If you buy the upgrade via the My Sites page, on the Checkout screen there should be a link to use PayPal to the right at the bottom. See the screenshot: http://snag.gy/XuLz3.jpg

  Hey,

  I tried that, but paypal still asks me for a creditcard number in order to close the deal. I can’t find any settings or anything to change that.

  Possibly. PayPal has different terms for different countries, and different countries also have their own requirements for online transactions.

  Let me tag this for staff to follow up – they should have more information on this and will better be able to advise you. Please be patient while waiting for their response.

  As an alternative, you might also be able to buy a prepaid debit/credit card and use that to make the purchase, providing that option is available in the Netherlands and it turns out you can’t use PayPal directly.

  Hi there,

  PayPal sometimes requires that you have a credit card linked to your PayPal account, as a backup payment method. That requirement comes from PayPal and isn’t something WordPress.com can control.

  As kokkieh mentioned, you may be able to buy a prepaid debit/credit card to use for your purchase if that option is available to you. Alternately, you could ask a friend or family member if they can help you make that purchase with a credit card.
