  Hi,
  We currently own a custom domain address through our 1&1 subscription but we are planning to cancel that contract. We would like to transfer the domain to wordpress for our site – what is the easiest way to do this? If we cancel our subscription with 1&1 we will lose the .org domain – could we just pay for a new domain from wordpress?

  WordPressdotcom currently doesn’t accept incoming domain transfers.

  Do not cancel your domain name if you are using it. If you are not going to stay with your present domain registrar, you should transfer it to another accredited registrar and purchase the domain mapping upgrade here. Here’s more on that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  Please note that even with a custom domain name upgrade, your site is still hosted here on WordPressdotcom and is bound by the same Terms of Service as free sites.
