We originally had a site with wordpress and that time, had raiallen.com as the domain. We since moved to squarespace and I guess the transfer was incomplete or not possible…either way, we need to renew that domain. It may have been purchased under my account

Thank you for contacting us from the correct account.
The domain, raiallen.com, expired on 20 February 2016 and is currently in what is called the Redemption Period. During this time the registrar is preparing to delete the domain, but also trying to sell it at private action before they release it.
It should still be possible to get your domain back, but our registrar charges a $80 redemption fee to do this, in addition $26 to renew the domain (amounts in US$). If we’re unable to recover the domain the amount is refunded in full.
Please let me know if you want to attempt to recover the domain and I can send you a payment link via email.
The other option is to wait a few weeks until the domain is released by the registrar, but you do run the risk of losing the domain if you do this.

Should the process be successful, I would like to arrange a transfer to a third-party host as well, as I’d like to transition to the .org platform.

I’ve just emailed our registrar. If they can still restore the domain it shouldn’t take more than two days, but I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

If you want to transfer the domain to another registrar, you can do so from My Sites ->Domains:
Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar
If you wish to transfer it to another user on WordPress.com, please tell me which user and I can take care of that for you.

I hope you don’t mind me jumping in to help. Only the domain owner is allowed to transfer the domain. Can you log out, the log in again using the email address that gets notifications and what not? Transfer options will be available then.

Oh, also, if a domain is currently expired, you are not technically its owner. You do have one domain that was renewed and another that expired some time ago.
We can try to redeem that domain for you if you’d like, but the registrar charges extra to return it to the account. If that’s the domain you’re trying to transfer, you’ll need to regain ownership first. Let us know what you’d like to do.

No worries, the domain has already been redeemed – we were considering moving the domain to Bluehost however, we’ve decided for now to keep it with WordPress and see if our current host will support domain transfers in the near future.
