  I currently have a free WordPress site and i have shared some links to my site on Facebook, if I where to purchase the domain name will it affect links I have shared that lead to my site.

  Correct account: Yes

  Hi there,

  If you add a custom domain using a paid plan, it won’t affect links you’ve already shared using your free WordPress.com address. That free address will also still work, and will automatically redirect people who click on it to your custom domain instead.
