Domain
-
Hello,
I work for a company that already has an active domain, and wants to rebuild their website. Am i able to build them a new website with a random domain name and then transfer the old domain to the website i create. They just don’t want to be offline while I create the new one. I am about to buy the business package so that i have access to the pluggins and templates, but am not sure what to do about the domain in the meantime. I normally work on squarespace and this is my first time using wordpress. Can you help point me in the right direction?
Thank you,

Hi there,
Yes many folks do just that when setting up a new site to replace their old site. When you upgrade to the Business Plan, you can use the address we assign your site as the “staging” address so you can get all set up in private. There is even a “coming soon” mode if you don’t want anyone to stumble on it by guessing the address.
Once it’s all set up and ready, you can connect your domain and that will essentially replace the old site with the new site… the URL itself stays the same of course.
Support is included in the Business Plan (and live chat is included with the yearly plan option, which is worth having if you are new to WordPress) and we’re happy to walk you through it as you get closer to being ready to launch.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
