  Where did you purchase your domain? There are few additional steps if you have purchased it outside of wordpress.com

  Regardless, you can visit https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#move-a-domain-name It contains all the things you need regarding domains.

  Hi @kerrytheadventurer, I just noticed your domain actually expired a few days ago, and it’s no longer in your account.

  But I’ve just sent an invoice so you can renew it. Once that’s paid and the domain is restored, you can use the options @rawalplawit mentioned to transfer the domain elsewhere as you’d like:
  https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#move-a-domain-name

  You’ll just want to take care of that as soon as possible so the domain doesn’t go into redemption:

  Recover an expired or cancelled domain

  Also, just note the renewal will extend your registration by a year regardless of whether you keep the domain here or move it elsewhere.
