  My domain expired on the 23rd of April I tried to transfer it to bluehost to create a new blog however I think it is lost in limbo. I see it on bluehost but it tells me its about to expire and wont allow me to complete transfer. i would like to know how to redeem it, i tried everything to get it before it expired. Please HELP.

  Hey there, it looks like you actually canceled the domain instead of transferring it. So it’s not so much in limbo as it is in redemption at this point. That can take several weeks. It’s a similar process to what happens with expired domains:

  Here’s what I’d recommend:

  – Update the contact email to a working address so you can get notifications. Right now with the domain and email canceled and removed, the contact email address stopped working.

  – Decide whether you’d like to redeem the domain. The registry charges an $80 fee. You’d likely need to pay a renewal fee as well ($18) but that would extend the domain for a year, and allow you to transfer it with that year to your new host. The other option is to wait it out (several weeks) and try to buy it before anyone else does when it’s released.
