Hi, I want to create a website and I have a domain from Hostinger. What I should choose’ to connect my domain or transfer it? And what is the difference between them?

Hey hi hello!
There’s a summary at the bottom that you might want to read first!
To answer your questions:
A domain transfer is when a domain bought from a registrar is transferred to another registrar. This can take five to seven days, and newly-registered domains cannot be transferred until they are at least 60 days old.
In this case, it would involve transferring your domain from Hostinger and making it WordPress.com owned. The benefit is that you could then manage both your site and your domain from your WordPress.com account.
(The fee for this is the standard renewal cost for the domain)
Domain connection basically makes it such that typing your domain’s URL results in opening a WordPress.com website you’ve set up for it.
It also makes it possible to make a domain like “www.linassposter.com” lead to “www.linassposterfitness.com”. To use the domain connection feature, any of the paid plans is required.
To summarize with pros & cons:
Domain Transfer – transfers domain ownership from one registrar to another
+ Manage both domain and site from one place
+ Only costs a standard renewal fee
– It can take a while
– To build your site with more of WordPress.com’s tools, you’ll need a paid plan (I suggest looking up plugins and Themes)Domain Connection – makes a URL lead to a website built at a chosen platform
+ Can be much quicker
– Domain and site managed in separate places
– Requires any of the paid plans.I hope this helps and has been clear.
Regardless, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
