  • Hi There,
I will attach a couple of links that should help you with this. Since you have your own domain already you will want to map it to your WordPress site. Here is a support link to tell you how:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

I know you mentioned you started the process and yes you are right you would need an upgraded plan. Anything other than the free plan will work for this and yes it is per year. Here is the link for info on prices.
    https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    Hope this helps!
    Thanks

  • HI there,

Just an additional note, if you want to use the mapping with a different plan than Premium you’ll need to purchase the plan first from My Site ->Plans and then add the mapping. If you go directly to mapping, Premium will be selected by default.

  • Oh, I just noticed this:

    and hosting

If you want to use your GoDaddy domain with your WordPress.com site, we will be providing your hosting, so there’s no reason to pay GoDaddy for hosting as well. You only need to pay them for the domain in that case.

You only need GoDaddy hosting if you’re setting up a self-hosted WordPress site, i.e. a site that uses the WordPress.org software. You can read a bit here about the difference:

    WordPress.com and WordPress.org
