  I have had an account with go daddy for the past year to have my own domain for my blog. However, I recently decided it did not generate the traffic I wanted to justify the continued expense. I would still like a platform to write from though and wondered if there was anyway to transfer my current writings/blog to a wordpress.com domain

  So, if I understand correctly, you want to move your blog from your self hosted site to a WordPress.com site. Of course you can do this.
