  I already have my own domain name with go daddy. I understand that to use my own domain I need a paid plan. Will the personal plan work? I don’t really blog much and don’t plan to until my novel is closer to release in a few years so I’m looking for the most economical way to keep my domain since it is my name. Thanks.

  Yes, you can map your domain with WordPress.com Personal. Get started at wordpress.com/pricing/ and then go to My Sites> Domains> Map it! to setup the mapping.
