  My domain Arlingtonbeachhouse.com expires tomorrow. I have changed my credit card detail which say it has automatically updated but I am concerned I will lose the domain? Will it automatically charge my CC – I hope so !!

  Hi there,

  Did you change the credit card information on the Purchases page or the Billing history page? You need to add the payment details directly to the specific upgrade on the Purchases page in order to activate automatic renewal, though at this point I’d just click the Renew Now button to immediately renew the domain instead.

  Have just added the cc details and tried to renew but it keeps saying I am attempting to purchase new products with a renewal – I have just taken this domain over so am very green ? Not sure if it will automatically renew or might be too late !!! Thank you for your help

  Okay, it looks like you now bought the Premium Plan, and that ended up renewing the domain as well.

  If you want to keep the plan, there’s nothing more you need to do. But if you don’t actually want the plan, let me know and I can remove it and issue a partial refund, or downgrade you to the cheaper Personal Plan if you prefer.

  Thank you all. The real problem is I don’t know if I need the premium plan ? The domain is existing and I assume if I don’t want WordPress followed by the domain name I need to keep the premium plan ? Is there anyone that I could chat live with sometime ? Thanks again

  But to answer your question, new domains cannot be purchased on a site without buying a plan as well. If you already have a domain you can renew it without buying a plan, but if you have no upgrades (including if existing upgrades expired) the plan must be bought first.

  You can also cancel your plan and keep the domain, or you can downgrade to a cheaper plan if you prefer. You can see the features included in each plan here:
