  Yeap it was. It doesn’t look like you can retrieve old domain names after they’ve been suspended.

  That’s correct. Suspended site names are not released to anyone but the current site owner if and when their suspension is removed by the Terms of Service team. There is no time limit for this. https://en.support.wordpress.com/suspended-blogs/

  Needless to say, if you set up a new site on WordPressdotcom, you’ll want to make certain your new content complies with the Terms of Service
