Dear WordPress team, I was wondering about your payed domain plans – is it possible to upgrade to Personal first and (if I were to change my mind about what to select) within a year to Premium and only pay the difference as it’s slightly more expensive? Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello @hullpatricia,
When you upgrade to a plan you fall under a 30-day refund period, during this period you can try the plan you have bought and see if it works for you.If it does not, then you can cancel the plan and get a full refund from your manage purchases section. Read more about it here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/.
After cancelling you can buy any other plan you might like.
WordPress.COM has a 30-day refund policy on all their paid plans, except for Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. The refund period for Guided Transfers ends 30 days after purchase or as soon as your site has been moved, whichever comes first.
You can still cancel your plans after 30-days but you wont we refunded for your cancellation so it is suggested that you stay on the plan and let it expire(after a year) and then get a new plan.
NOTE: Refunds can take upto a week to appear on your statement. For credit card refunds, it may take 5-7 business days to appear on your online bank account or in 1-2 billing statements. And also, you will be refunded to the same payment method you used for your purchase.

Hi! Thank you for your quick response – could you please tell me how you regulate the ad monetising function and how it works? Thanks! With kind regards,
Patricia -
Yes, as a blogger on WordPress.com you can earn money using WordAds-the official WordPress.com advertising program available for site/blog owners.
There are 3 paid plans on WordPress.com: Personal, Premium and Business. You can upgrade to any of these plans to monetize your site/blog using WordAds and start making money.
More info on making money using WordAds here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/#advertising
Please Note: The amount of money you make via WordAds depends on Ad impressions(not Ad Clicks). Check out this forum topic to see how the earnings are calculated: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-are-the-earnings-in-wordads-calculated?replies=3#post-919750
You do not have direct access to WordAds with Personal plan(like you do with the Business or Premium plans). You have to meet some eligibility criteria if you want to use WordAds with the personal plan. One of the eligibility criteria is a custom domain — which can be registered using this plan.

Ok tried that, it worked! Thank you. Sorry to bombard you with questions, I have one last one. I’ve almost finished editing the site but would like my latest blogposts to appear with the photo I’ve attached

No worries patricia, we are all here to learn! We love questions here. :)
To make your blogposts appear with an image you can set a featured image(which is supported by your theme: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/baskerville-2/) to your posts.

Dear WordPress team,
I have another question concerning image sizing – can I get my images to match in size directly on WordPress or do I have to use Photoshop or something similar beforehand and size them first before uploading? With kind regards,
Patricia -
Hi Patricia,
You can edit your images directly from your dashboard. You can do all sorts of edits on them, like crop, rotate, flip, etc. You can read more about image editing here:
