  I have let my previous domain lapse but when I try to renew it is taking me to a blank page and when i try it going via account settings it is not giving me my previous domain as an option. Can someone look into this for me?

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/#redemption-period tells you what is involved in regaining it. In part,

  the domain name can still be renewed, but there is an $80.00 redemption fee required in addition to the normal renewal cost. (This is standard practice for domain registrars.)

  which you will have to pay before your domain can be recovered.

  Hi All,

  I found a domain from GoDaddy, when i read the info from wp about domains, i still need to upgrade my free plan. What’s the use of trying to get a cheaper domain when i still need to upgrade my plan in wp for me to map the domain?

  The domain, aromapooch.com, has already been removed from our system and is currently in redemption with our registrar. It is still possible for me to recover the domain at this point, but our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption. I’ll need you to agree to that fee before I can get the recovery process started.

  To use your domain with any other hosting provider you’d need to pay a hosting fee that’s much higher per year than the cost of a Personal Plan and domain mapping upgrade on WordPress.com. All hosting providers charge for the service of connecting a domain not registered with them to a site on their servers. If you purchase the domain directly from us you’ll only pay the cost of the plan.
