  Hi, I am a newbie to website creation, so please forgive the question. I have created a website on wordpress, bought a domain name from another site. I would like people to be bot only forwarded to my wordpress site, but for the address to show the domain name (not xxxxx.wordpress.com. How do I do this? Right now I just have the free wordpress plan – do I need to upgrade? If yes, to which plan? Thanks!

  To use a custom domain name with your WordPress.com site you need to purchase one of the three plans:
  https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  All paid plans include a domain credit to be used for registering a new domain or mapping an existing one.

  To use the domain you already have, first upgrade to one of the plans and then follow these instructions to map it:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
