  I have had an account with WordPress for years now and am trying to renew my website. It’s always been $18 to renew but now I’m not seeing that option. The least expensive option is $36 for a year. Can someone help me with this?

  That sounds like an old domain registration or mapping upgrade which were retired about a year and a half ago . Did you let it expire?

  I’ve tagged this thread for Staff to assist you and please let them know the exact domain name involved.

  If you are talking about maggiemackenzie.com, it looks like that domain is already in the Redemption period. Here’s what happens when a domain name you purchase on WordPressdotcom expires

  Domain Expiration

  If you wish Staff to try and recover the domain for you, the registrar imposes an additional $80 fee for recovery on top of the domain registration fee itself. Staff will first need you to agree to pay that extra fee.

  Hi mmackenzie7813,

  maggiemackenzie.com expired on 2017-05-28 which is why you are no longer able to renew it from your account. The domain is currently in the redemption period:

  Domain Expiration

  We can still try to recover it but you will need to pay an $80 redemption fee in addition to the $18 domain costs. If you agree, I can generate a payment request and contact our domain registrar once it has been paid.

  If you don’t want to pay the fee you can wait until the domain is released, although this can take 80 days or more. There is also no guarantee you will be the first to register it again.

  Please let me know what you would like to do and we’ll go from there.
