Hello @sholtomorton,
Do you already have an existing website/blog content, and you wanted to transfer to sholtomortoncom.wordpress.com? If so, what’s the domain and who’s the host?
Regards,

Hi Rose
I had a lot of trouble transferring my website from .com to .org. The trouble occurred when I set up the domain name with bluehost. I thought the domain had been automatically transferred. This was not the case so I had two websites. In the process of trying to fix this I deleted my .com site.
Could you please check that my subscription with WordPress.com is closed? Plus please double check, I won’t be charged for the domain name sholtomorton.com in the future?
Thank you – Sholto

Hello Sholto,
Let me just itemize this:
I had a lot of trouble transferring my website from .com to .org.
— You are transferring FROM WordPress.COM to WordPress.ORG, and not the other way around? Therefore, you have an existing website in WordPress.COM that you want to transfer to your self-hosted WordPress website. The trouble occurred when I set up the domain name with bluehost. I thought the domain had been automatically transferred.
— No, it doesn’t do that automatically. You need to update the DNS records in order to point domains.
In the process of trying to fix this I deleted my .com site.
— I’d assume, you have deleted your WordPress.COM site. I checked your current WordPress.COM website and it doesn’t have content.Could you please check that my subscription with WordPress.com is closed? Plus please double check, I won’t be charged for the domain name sholtomorton.com in the future?
— I am adding #modlock to the side to tag a WordPress support to assist you on this.Regards,

Bluehost have pointed the URL to sholtomorton.com.au. Hopefully I can set up my new .org site. I wanted the new site for ecommerce so It has to be .com.au.

Sounds like you’re missing something here. This post probably is a good start for you – https://codex.wordpress.org/New_To_WordPress_-_Where_to_Start
Please note that this forum is for WordPress hosted sites (WordPress.COM). The link I sent you above is for self-hosted WordPress sites.

Hi Rose. I think you haven’t understood. I have had a WordPress.com site for nearly two years.
-
Could you please access my account and make sure I do not pay the subscription fee and for the domain name sholtomorton.com?

I understand that you have an existing WordPress.COM site that you have for a while, which you mentioned in your previous post that you might have accidentally deleted.
I was referring to the self-hosted WordPress site that you mentioned – WordPress.ORG. You probably have to check this, so we can be on the same page – https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
When we say .ORG wordpress, it’s self hosted, you don’t go to wordpress.com and login. You build the website from scratch. You install WordPress via FTP or File Manager, (usually these days there’s already a one click install available on cPanel for you to install WordPress. Then you install your theme, etc. If you have an existing blog/website that you wish to transfer, you can import the contents. — Is this what you’re trying to do?

Sorry I am losing patience. I have transferred the site and understand how to do it. If you google sholtomorton.com, you will the domain is no longer active.
-
The only way to salvage my website is if the domain name sholtomorton.com is re activated

Hello Sholto, I’m sorry, I am trying to help based on your description. I think something is not clear on how this problem was described. I am honestly starting to be confused of what you want, as I thought from the beginning you were transferring from WordPress.COM to self-hosted site, now I think you’re just changing domain.
I am quoting what you said from the beginning,
I had a lot of trouble transferring my website from .com to .org
I have already tagged @modlock for a WordPress support to assist you.
I cannot check your subscription, as I am not a WordPress Support. I am just a WordPress volunteer trying to help you. :)

I have completely deleted my site so there should be no more confusion and will re set it up from the back up. Out of interest Bluehost have been absolutely hopeless! Plus the instructions didn’t say anything about changing the DNS codes. I wish someone told me that before I lost my site.

It’s the support page. Please check the link again – https://en.support.wordpress.com/
I’m sorry, I have to say again:
Click the GET HELP button at the bottom.
After you click on the GET HELP button, it will take you to a page where you can contact a WordPress Expert.
Let me know if something is still not clear. I could probably make a screenshot for you, where to find it.
Regards,
Rose
