    Hi @masterplumbingco!

Every WordPress free plan blog comes with a “.wordpress.com” extension. If you want to use a custom domain, like the one you own you will need an upgraded plan on your site in order to map a domain. Please have a look at the relevant support guide about Domain Mapping. Also you can read the general guide about domains here.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @masterplumbingco,

It sounds like you want to map a domain that you already own to WordPress.com. I would be happy to help you with that!

Adding a domain to your site requires a WordPress.com plan:
    https://wordpress.com/pricing/

All WordPress.com Plans come with one free domain credit.

It is also possible to map an existing domain to your WordPress.com site.

    1. Go to the Domains Page and click Add Domain
Click the Upgrade button next to “Already own a domain?”
Enter the domain you’d like to map and click the blue

      Add

      button

    2. Ask your domain provider to update your DNS settings. This step must be completed with the company you purchased your domain from.
I would like to use my domain with a WordPress.com site. In order to do this, I need to point my domain’s name servers to the following:

      NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
      NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
      NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
    3. Wait for the magic. Make sure the domain you just mapped is set as the primary domain.
It can take a couple of hours for your DNS (Domain Name Servers) to up

More detailed instructions about domain mapping can be found here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

I hope that answers your question. Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance :-)

    @masterplumbingco

    A little suggestion:

If you decide to upgrade you don’t need to upgrade to Premium, you can use the Personal Plan, but you need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.

Go to My Site ->Plans and buy the Personal Plan, and then you can go back and claim your free domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add.

    Hope is all clear!
