  I have purchased a domain name elsewhere and created my webpage on wordpress. Why is it asking me to pay an annual fee with you?

  Hi there, if you want to use your custom domain here on your WordPress.com website, you’d need to upgrade your site to at least the Personal plan to do so. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  Once you do that, you can follow this guide to connecting your domain here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
