Hi. I’m trying to use wordpress to make a website. I own my hosting and domain through fasthosts. When I try to add my domain to wordpress it is charging me 84 pound. Why is this? How do I use your free website building service with my fasthosts domain?

There are two different versions of WordPress – WordPress.com and WordPress.org. WordPress.org is the core software that you can host on your own hosting. On the other hand, if you prefer to focus on creating content and don’t want to bother about much of the technical aspects of hosting a WordPress.org site, you can choose us — WordPress.com — where we take care of much of the technical aspects.

As you mentioned, your domain and hosting are with another provider. And we are a different provider. So you would need to choose one provider where you will host your site. If you want to host your site with us, you will want to upgrade to a paid plan and proceed with building your site here.
If you want to use your other hosting provider, you’ll want to contact them for help with setting up a WordPress site on their platform.
