    Hi, I bought an account with wordpress.com today for a few hours and made a doamin name ‘jeffreycavelier.com’ i had the account refunded because I meant to make the account on WordPress.org and use Bluehost.com for hosting. I need my domain name back from WordPress so I can have it linked with Bluehost. Specifically at NS1.bluehost.com and NS2.Bluehost.com.

    Was your domain name itself purchased through WordPress.com?

    You can find help with pointing your domain to new nameservers here.

    If you were considering transferring your domain to a different registrar, you will need to wait 60 days before doing so. This is a standard rule set by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.

    Hi there,

    Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future. Only cancel a domain if you’re completely sure you no longer want it at all.

    In this case your domain should be available again early next week at which point you should be able to register it directly with Bluehost.

    Else I can also still restore it to your WordPress.com account and then help you point it to Bluehost, but you’ll only be able to transfer it entirely once you’ve owned it for at least 60 days. As your payment has already been refunded I’ll also need you to first pay for the domain’s registration again.

    Please let me know if you’d prefer to immediately restore the domain, and I can get the process started for you.

    I don’t mind getting that domain name back. I’ve actually owned it since 2007, lost it for a bit, and got it back. Thanks for your help.

    Yes, if you could point it to bluehost.com that would be perfect.

    Did the $22 fee get applied to WordPress? Let me know if there are any further actions I need to take.

    Also, how long will it take for the nameserver to reroute the domain to Bluehost.com?

    Hi there,

    I’ve reviewed your account and it appears the full plan amount was refunded, including the portion for the domain. We’ve reached out to your privately via email to collect payment for the domain. Once the payment has been made we’ll update the name servers to Bluehost for you.

    Hi there,

    You should have received a reply to your email with the subject [automattic] I need to have my domain transfered to bluehost. If you haven’t gotten our reply let us know and we can resent that message.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your payment. Your domain was reactivated and I changed the name servers to Bluehost’s as requested. Note that it will take around 3-4 hours for them to fully propagate and then, your domain will work with its new configuration.
